EPW Democrats Boycott Pruitt Vote

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

Democrats from the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works committee boycotted today's scheduled committee hearing to vote to move Scott Pruitt's nomination for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. These Senators are seeking additional information and documents, along with concrete answers from the nominee about whether he would recuse himself from decisions on safeguards he has sued the Agency over.

Clean Water Action President and CEO Bob Wendelgass released the following statement.

"The role of EPA Administrator is too important for half answers from Scott Pruitt. We support Senator Carper and the rest of the Democratic members of the EPW committee as they seek full transparency about Scott Pruitt's record and his conflicts of interest. To this point his answers, at his hearing and in his written responses, about these vital issues have been inadequate. Americans deserve to know if their EPA Administrator will put public health and clean water ahead of polluter profits. Until Scott Pruitt comes clean and fully answers these questions, he should not be eligible for a vote."
