Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund as our Hybrid Michigan Communications Manager. This full-time role, based in Lansing, Ann Arbor, or Detroit, Michigan, involves managing media and public communications to support environmental campaigns. The position is hybrid and may require occasional nights and weekends for events. Ideal candidates have communications experience and a passion for protecting the Great Lakes, addressing the climate crisis, and advancing environmental democracy.
Responsibilities
•Work closely with our state director and program team to amplify and support ongoing campaigns throughstrategic communications
•Develop and execute communications plans that build on and support ongoing campaigns
•Lead rapid response communications
•Management of Clean Water Action’s and Clean Water Fund’s Michigan social media presence
•Support communications for National campaigns as needed
•Manage the organizations’ Michigan webpages
•Manage the organizations’ advocacy, fundraising, and engaging networks.
•Experience with strategic communications for short-term and long-term advocacy campaigns.
•Experience managing websites and experience using advocacy and fundraising software.
•A passion for tackling the most pressing issues of our time, for social and environmental justice, and forgrowing and strengthening the grassroots movement to protect clean water.
•Strong written and oral communications skills, with an ability and eagerness to work with multiplestakeholders to develop successful communications.
•Experience building and maintaining relationships with key reporters and media outlets.
•Experience writing and editing in different mediums, for different audiences, and also helping othersimprove their storytelling and writing abilities.
•Experience developing robust and compelling communications strategies and a desire to innovate newways to engage people in the clean water movement.
•Experience managing social media accounts.
•Access to reliable transportation.
•Dependable Wi-Fi connection to support a hybrid schedule.
•Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends for events.
