Clean Water Action is a national, grassroots environmental organization that seeks to protect the environment and safeguard public health, promote passage of strong environmental laws, and help communities address local environmental problems affecting them.  Clean Water Fund is a national research and education organization which promotes the public interest on issues related to water, waste, and toxics.

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are seeking a full-time Environmental Health Organizer to work on lead and health-related environmental issues in Philadelphia and southeast Pennsylvania. The primary responsibility of this position will be to spearhead outreach and organizing work with community partners and residents in impacted communities in Philadelphia on the hazards of lead exposure and actions that can be taken to become lead safe. We are looking for candidates with the ability to manage effective community engagement strategies to mobilize residents and direct successful community environmental health programs.  This role also involves contributing to Clean Water Action's broader state and national campaigns. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for clean water, environmental justice, waste reduction, and community health. Experience in communities of color and lower-income areas is a plus.

Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary organizer on lead and health related issues for the Philadelphia office, engaging in community outreach and education in impacted neighborhoods, working with local community partners and civic organizations.
• Represent CWA/CWF in coalitions and coalition activities.
• Assist in eastern Pennsylvania on CWA’s national and state campaigns.
• Assist in voter education efforts on environmental issues, and through Clean Water Action, help elect pro-environment candidates.
• Assist with media and public relations activities in eastern Pennsylvania.
• Assist in lobbying and other communication with legislators and agency staff.
•Assist with local fundraising activities, including events and individual donor work.
•Provide support for CWA’s field and phone canvasses.
• Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in community organizing, environmental advocacy, or electoral campaigns. Proven experience in engaging communities, especially in lower-income and BIPOC neighborhoods.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
•Ability to work in a hybrid role, requiring reliable home internet access and the ability to commute to the Philadelphia office and surrounding areas.
• A deep passion for environmental justice, public health, and community empowerment.
•Comfortable with using online communication tools, managing digital campaigns, and utilizing basic software for organizing tasks.

This position is a permanent, full-time position. Salary ranges from $44,000 - $47,000 and is based on experience. Attractive benefits package.
