HONORING LEGACY | LEADERSHIP | BLACK EXCELLENCE
Protecting our water requires both visible leadership and the strategic investment that sustains long-term impact. As a Major Gifts Officer, Connie St. John plays a critical role in strengthening the movement by building and stewarding relationships with major donors whose significant contributions provide stable, flexible funding.
Connie has been with the organization for just over a year, yet her impact is undeniable. Management and staff continue to recognize her leadership in improving processes, strengthening systems, and fostering greater collaboration across teams — enhancing both efficiency and collective impact in advancing Clean Water's mission.
Having served as President & Executive Director of the Neighborhood Music School in Los Angeles and as Regional Executive Director for Pacific Region OASIS, lifelong learning centers for older adults, Connie has extensive nonprofit management and fundraising experience. She has also worked in Washington, D.C., as a meeting and convention planner for the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association and the American Association for Justice (formerly, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America).
As a corporate and entertainment executive, Connie has worked with several high-profile companies in marketing and public relations, including Columbia TriStar (Sony) Television and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in Los Angeles, Sara Lee Corporation and Harpo Productions, Inc. / The Oprah Winfrey Show in Chicago, and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. and CNN in Atlanta. So why is this work so important to Connie St. John?
Based in the DC area, Connie’s specialties and passions are storytelling, innovative education, and business management. Through her production company, No Weapon Productions, Connie creates life-changing entertainment, including the Don’t Be a Bully Project™, which is especially near and dear to her heart as it aims to eliminate bullying in middle schools and prevent tragic suicides due to bullying.
Connie recently served as the board president of Women in Film & Video (DC) and as co-president of the LACHSA Foundation, which funds the arts programs at the number one arts high school in the country – L.A. County High School for the Arts. She is also fascinated by law.
