National Donor Development Manager/Massachusetts Senior Advisor
Elizabeth joined Clean Water Action in 2001, shortly after graduating from college, became the Massachusetts State Director in 2012, and now serves as Clean Water's National Donor Development Manager while still supporting Massachusetts in a Senior Advisor role. In her early years with the organization, she fought to virtually eliminate mercury pollution in the Commonwealth and helped build the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow coalition which has been fighting to protect our health and environment from toxic chemicals for over 20 years. Her expertise and advocacy in the areas of environmental health and zero waste have contributed to many victories, and she is most proud of leading Clean Water’s successful 8-year campaign—alongside many partners—to ban toxic flame retardants in children’s products and household furniture.
Elizabeth knows that the greatest strentgh of Clean Water Action is our people—the members, donors, volunteers, and neighborhood activists who form our grassroots base. As National Donor Development Manager, she believes that the widespread change that is necessary can be achieved only through deep relationship building, assembling and supporting a team that wins campaigns, and pushing Clean Water and the larger movement to step out of their comfort zones and take on racism and classism alongside environmental protection.
Elizabeth has been a Massachusetts resident her entire life. She has a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University. Her passion for environmental protection and ending oppression has been inspired by many sources, from sailing the New England coast and looking for salamander eggs in vernal pools with her father to imagining the future world that her young daughter will grow into.
