Voter Registration
Voter Registration Information
- Register Online or By Mail at least 15 days before an Election Day
- Same Day Voter Registration within 14 days of an Election Day
- Pre-Register To Vote Online for 16 and 17 year old future voters
- Safe At Home Voter Registration with address confidentiality for domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, human trafficking & elder and dependent abuse victims, reproductive health care workers, and those who face harassment or threats of violence due to their public sector work

Cast Your Vote
In-person options vary by county. Look up your County Election Office.
You can cast your vote in California:
- By Mail: Vote-by-mail ballots are sent to all registered voters. Must be signed and postmarked no later than Election Day and received within 7 days, or returned in person to any polling place, your county election official office, or to a ballot drop-off location or ballot box by 8pm on Election Day. You can also authorize an unpaid person to return a vote-by-mail ballot on your behalf by filling out the authorization on the envelope.
- At Early Voting Sites starting one month before an election date.
- At Vote-By-Mail Ballot Drop Off Locations opening one month before an election date.
- At Vote Centers in Voter’s Choice Act (VCA) counties. Voters in VCA counties will have 10 days of in-person voting and the choice of casting their ballot at one of several voting locations within their county, instead of one assigned polling place. Vote centers also can provide replacement ballots, language assistance, accessible voting, and same-day registration.
- At Your Polling Place on Election Day (only for voters in non-VCA counties or in counties not holding All Mail Ballot Elections).
Voter identification is only required for first-time voters who did not provide driver license, California identification, or the last four digits of social security number on the registration form.
