When discarded electronics end up in landfills or informal recycling sites, they break down and release toxic chemicals that contaminate our soil and water.

The best solution is to prevent that electronic waste (or e-waste) in the first place.

That’s why Clean Water Action and our partners are working to bring free electronics repair to the Twin Cities.

  • Free repair clinics: Expanding our region’s fix-it culture by offering expert-run clinics with a fully equipped electronics repair lab, helping people extend the life of their devices and keep them out of the waste stream.
  • Community education: Promoting repair and reuse through resources, events, and our “e-Reuse Pledge,” encouraging Minnesotans to repair broken electronics and choose refurbished options when buying new devices.
  • Industry partnerships: Redirecting 112,000 pounds of electronic waste each year from landfills and out-of-state recyclers back into the community for repair through an innovative collaboration with recycling and repair companies.

Together, these efforts reduce toxic pollution, support a circular economy, and keep electronics working longer for Minnesota families.
