While our nation has made significant progress since the 1970’s in cleaning up many of our rivers, bays and other vital water resources, significant water quality and quantity challenges and inequalities remain. We work to protect clean water from the watershed to the water tap.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has created an opportunity to strengthen State Revolving Fund programs for the long term. Increased funding and technical assistance, along with requirements for funding projects in disadvantaged communities, should lead to a more equitable allotment of funding and to significant improvement of water infrastructure nationwide. Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund examined information provided by the 50 States’ SRF programs to develop a snapshot of accessibility and transparency and to identify areas of potential procedural improvement to dramatically broaden and diversify the number of communities and projects applying for funding.

Letter to Congress: 150+ Organizations in Support of Low Income Household Water Assistance Program Funding

On behalf of the more than 150 undersigned water associations, environmental, low-income, and other public interest advocates, and labor unions, we urge Congress to provide FY24 funding for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Household Water Assistance Program. Without action to continue this critical program, hundreds of thousands of low-income households could lose access to essential water service.
