Julie has spent the last 30 years at the intersection of human health and the environment. Prior to working at Clean Water Action she consulted on numerous candidate and issue campaigns throughout the country, as well as served in leadership positions on federal races. Over the last decade, Julie served as Chief of Staff and campaign consultant to the first openly LGBTQ+ Oakland City Councilmember, Rebecca Kaplan, where in 2019 she spearheaded the budget process.
Julie’s substantial policy and organizing experience also extends to the nonprofit arena, including global travel to facilitate culturally competent fundraising for a storied multinational environmental organization, and serving as Executive Director for an environmental non-profit in Nevada where she was involved in managing a multi-state coalition that successfully engaged in the State’s mercury regulatory process. This Bay Area native completed her undergraduate degree in Theater Arts and Communications at San Jose State University.
