ReThink Disposable Pennsylvania Zero Waste Specialist
Mercedes is responsible for implementing the ReThink Disposable program in Philadelphia. In this role, she collaborates with a variety of establishments, ranging from family-owned restaurants to music venues and school districts, to establish circular systems that promote sustainability within the food service sector. Mercedes is deeply passionate about food and environmental justice.
Before her move to Philadelphia, Mercedes served as a Field Manager in Ann Arbor's field canvass, where she played a pivotal role in motivating community engagement for various campaigns, including those focused on issues such as polluter pay, water affordability, and renewable energy.
Before Clean Water Action, she studied Finance and Spanish from Michigan State University, and has experience both in business and in community organizing. She also spent a semester in Valencia, Spain where she studied Spanish and ate tapas.
